BMS and Cell Voltage Readings Explained
Learn what BMS readings show, why voltage alone cannot prove LiFePO4 capacity, and what information to send for battery diagnosis in Lebanon.

What a BMS monitors
The battery management system, or BMS, monitors battery operating conditions. Depending on its design, it can use cell voltages, current and temperature to support protection and balancing functions. The measurements, alarms and controls available vary between models; a screen should be interpreted with the documentation for that particular battery and BMS.

Voltage and charge percentage are different
Cell voltage changes during charging and discharging. LiFePO4 has a relatively flat voltage curve across much of its operating range, so voltage alone is a limited guide to charge percentage. Some BMS designs track current over time and correct their charge estimate at suitable reference points.

A displayed percentage depends on the setup
Battery monitors calculate charge estimates using measured current and battery parameters. Correct capacity information and synchronisation matter. A displayed 100% therefore describes the monitor’s charge estimate; it is not a certificate of the battery’s original capacity. Runtime estimates also change with the load, so a figure shown under one load should not be promised under another.

What a workshop screenshot can establish
Similar cell voltages in one screenshot do not prove equal capacity or remaining battery life. This is a practical limitation of a single observation. Diagnosis needs context, including current, temperature, alarms and behaviour over time. Further assessment should address the reported problem rather than assume that one attractive reading establishes battery health.

Watch an archived cell-voltage example
An existing BTC Energy Solutions S.A.R.L. archive clip shows a battery cell-voltage display. Watch the original short clip alongside the explanation above; the screen is an example from one case, rather than independent evidence of capacity or a repair result. The watch page identifies the original publication date and the current contact number.
